Klima

Entsprechend den Unterschieden in der Landschaft des Libanon, ist auch das Klima sehr unterschiedlich. An der Küste herrscht mediterranes Klima mit trockenen, warmen Sommern und feuchten, regenreichen Wintern. Im Gebirge herrscht ausgesprochenes Gebirgsklima, wobei auch hier der Hauptniederschlag im Winter fällt und dann hauptsächlich in Form von Schnee (Das stark zerklüftete Libanon-Gebirge, das bis zu 3.000 m hoch ist.). An der Grenze zu Syrien herrscht ein trockenes Steppenklima, welches den Übergang zum Wüstenklima des südlichen Syriens und Jordaniens bildet. In Beirut liegen die Temperaturen am Tag bei durchschnittlich 18° C im Januar und bei 30° C im Juli und August. Im Dezember und Januar gibt es durchschnittlich 11 Regentage in Beirut, während der August im allgemeinen völlig trocken bleibt.
